Interior Health Childcare Licensing requires children attending Summer Camp must be at least five-years-old and have completed kindergarten (going into Grade 1 in September) in order to register for camp. Our system is computerized and will not allow younger children to be registered for summer camp if they do not meet our minimum age.

Camp Weather Safety:

What happens to field trips with poor weather or wildfire smoke in the air?

For the safety of our staff and all summer camp participants, we have policies regarding weather and air quality.

We monitor hot weather conditions and require hats, sunscreen, and water bottles when we are outside. We also limit the time outdoors when the temperature is above 30C. If the outdoor temperature is 35C or higher, we stay indoors.

We will cancel outdoor water activities if there is a thunderstorm in the weather forecast.

We will stay indoors if the air quality is poor due to wildfire smoke or other factors. We keep everyone inside if the air quality is at a 7 or higher. This includes not playing outdoors on the playground or going on outdoor field trips.

Mountain Biking Questions

When does registration open for Biking?

Registration opens the first week of May every year. Registration is offered online only through our website, and costs $50 for the entire season. Mountain Biking runs until the snow flies! (Generally finished in October).

What days and hours are Mountain Biking?

Beginners ride on Monday from 3:30pm to 6pm.

Intermediates ride on Wednesday from 3:30pm to 6pm.

All riders meet at BGC Williams Lake Club across from the Fresh Co parking lot.

What does my child need to participate?

Participants should have a helmet that fits properly, a mountain bike, proper footwear, and a backpack to carry water and a snack. Mountain bike gloves, knee/shin pads, chest protection, and a full-face helmet are recommended but not required. If your child does not have a mountain bike, we might have a suitable bike for your child to borrow.

How old does my child need to be to participate in mountain biking?

The youngest age, on average, is seven years old. The groups are based on abilities, which our leaders determine during the first rides of the season. Once the skills of each rider are determined, riders are placed into groups. Mondays are for beginners, and Wednesdays are for intermediate riders.

How do I know if my child is a beginner or intermediate?

The leaders determine the skill level at the beginning of the season. The intermediate group rides on more challenging trails, which include uphill and downhill challenges. All participants should be able to use their bikes safely and know hand signals.

How do we know if biking has been cancelled due to weather or smoke?

We post all changes on our Facebook and Instagram pages, and an email is sent to all parents and youth.

Do you shuttle riders back to the Club?

No, the group rides back to the Club at the end of every ride unless they have gone on a trail that requires them to be shuttled back due to distance.

Please pick up your child(ren) from the Club. Parents/Guardians will be made aware in advance if there is a change in pick-up time or location.
